"1. 德国厂只能生产出垃圾(法国、美国厂同样如此)。
2. 日本厂才能生产出精品。 "
my experience with german cars is that they are generally well engineered and require constant maintenance to work well. Japanese products are engineered for an expected life span (relatively short). but they are converging.
some examples: I had a door lock failure on my driver side door. most of the time, you could just put in a wire hook and unlock it; or use a metal wire to push the unlock button inside the car to unlock the door. On the bmw, the door lock is engineered such that a wire hook would pick up nothing, and with the door locked, pushing the door unlock button inside the car wouldn't unlock the door. those are extremely helpful in deterring car thieves. but they come at a cost of about $1,500 per door lock mechanism, vs. about $200 for a regular door lock.
I recently had a failure of light bulb in the rear door panel. the left brake light went out. however, the electronics was able to rewire the lights so that the panel used the parking light in place of the brake light, and in the process it avoided a potential safety issue.
now, having said that, my passenger side motorized window failed, due to a broken plastics bushing. the driver side uses basically the same mechanism, but with a metal bushing. so bmw, in its efforts to save a few pennies, realized that the passenger side window isn't used as much as the driver side window. thus the plastics bushing instead of the metal bushing.
that last piece is very Japanese like. |
